With the mergence of the Dai An, Mau Tai, Phong Nien villages and a part of Son Pho village, so people named it as Son Phong village. Legend has it that this village has traditions to services of trade activites and to the security of Hoi An town, Nguyen Phuc Chu Lord  had awarded the board with the phrase "Cuu the do nhan" (protect nation,  help people) dated 1715. This board were carved designs of 10 flying phoenix in surrounding for memorizing the merit of villagers to country.
