

Van Duc Pagoda
Address: Dong Na hamlet, Cam Ha, Commune, Hoi An
Van Duc Pagoda (also known as Areca Tree Pagoda) was founded in late 17th century by a monk whose family name was Ly, first name Nhuan, religious name Thanh Dang. This monk’s homeland is in Guangdong, China and he was the 34th inheritor of Lam Te Order. This pagoda, whose precinct is rather large, is located by the southern bank of the Co Co River, which had ever previously connected Da Nang to Hoi An. The pagoda worships Amitabha Buddha, Dia Tang Bodhisattva, Avalokitecvara Bodhisattva.
The pagoda is spacious, cool-aired and well-ventilated and it is an ideal tourist destination drawing numerous visitors to come for sight-seeing and religious works. This pagoda gains a massive size and magnificence and is considered the most splendid pagoda in the region. The pagoda was granted the Certificate of National Historic Cultural relic on 29th November 1991.
